On reflection.....
Thinking about my previous post it might be better to offer both blog and e mail and see which most people preffered. Let the users drive it so to speak.
Google docs
Frank,
Considering we may have contributions from a wide variety of sources, it might be better to use e mail or the blog as everyone is familiar with it. The problem with e mail is it will require a central person to maintain all the incoming documents in one area - which could then be perhaps, google docs. Ie we are going to need a librarian of some sort.

Where do we go from here?
Following Weds 12th Dec meeting, I guess the question is - Where do we go from here? I wonder if it would be useful for colleagues who have info about the project to post it up - we could effectively use the blog to assemble information about the project so that a more detailed picture could be built up. If we could develop a bank of information it would enable colleagues who travel to the site to have a greater insight into the problem so they could focus their efforts more.
Glenside Meeting 12th Dec
The meeting at Glenside was a very useful introduction and orientation to the project and added a human perspective - it is good to know what the site is actually like.
Meeting of 12-Dec-2007
I assume there will be some formal notes from this meeting, so will just give my perspective.
For me this was a very useful meeting as I felt that everyone was receptive to ideas for progression, while being unafraid to say what they thought.
There were quite a few 'known unknowns' (such as Internet access) and some 'unknown unknowns' emerged (such as possible micropolitics regarding the ICT).
These are the main points that emerged for me:
- It would be possible to set up a 'demonstrator' site if some equipment could be delivered to BNC (VSO may be able to help).
- Some requirements analysis would be necessary, but the solution space should not be too prescribed. A Soft Systems approach might be useful (with a light touch).
- Patrick identified the need for persistent ICT training - maybe this could be combined with the 'demonstrator' system.
- Roger's research might form a useful starting point for a knowledge repository.
